| We were greeted by Paul and Sally, who couldn’t do enough for us, and then set off for our first sailing experience. As we left the harbour we were the envy of all on the quay, and felt like millionaires. After a short while of running with the engine on, Paul and Sally set up the boat for the real thing. The sails were out, we started to be at one with nature and then off went the engines and the boat took over. Unbelievable, to just let the wind and the sea take you along was an experience of a lifetime. After a couple of hours we arrived at the beaches of Papagayo and anchored up. There we borrowed snorkel, mask and flippers and swam around the boat admiring the clear water and the many different types of fish to see. A lovely buffet lunch was to follow, with beers and wine, and a chance to chat with Paul and Sally, who are delightful hosts in every way.Eventually we had to make our way back but had a fantastic sail with a
little more wind and the chance to see their beautiful boat really ride the sea.We got back to port and reluctantly had to leave our hosts and their great boat. We had a wonderful day with lovely people and memories never to forget. Many thanks for our day, Paul and Sally. Can’t wait to do it again.

What a beautiful sailing area unspoilt, uncrowded and wonderful weather.
Will be back.

What a way to spend your birthday, anniversary or any other special occasion!
Our treat to ourselves as part of our Silver Wedding celebrations was to charter Paul and Sally’s forty five foot yacht for the day. We had never been sailing and this was a new experience to look forward to.
We were met by Paul and Sally at Puerto Calero and welcomed on board. From start to finish we were looked after by the perfect host, our every need was catered for and nothing was too much trouble.
We sailed down the coast to Papagayo and anchored in a bay from where we went swimming, snorkelling and swam to shore. We had a lovely lunch on board and a variety of drinks was available throughout the day.
A truly unforgettable experience, which we can highly recommend.
Thank you

We had a lovely week’s sailing at the end of November, in glorious sunshine while back home the wind and rain never stopped.
Lanzarote offered some great sailing, with good winds and in particular the islands at the top and the bottom were really peaceful and quiet. There was beautiful scenery, red brown mountains and glorious bays where we anchored overnight and swam during the day. Isla Graciosa and Aleganza were particular favourites.
Sally was very friendly and helpful, both at the start when planning our trip and during the course of our sailing whenever we had some query or needed some support. The boat was excellent, big enough for our crew of 5, comfortable with a light airy saloon and it also sailed well in whatever direction (and very close to the wind). It was extremely well equipped, in almost new condition with everything we needed for both sailing and navigating and, just as importantly, in the galley and while enjoying a glass of wine in the evening on deck.
All in all, a very successful and enjoyable week and we are all looking forward to getting out there again before too long!

As a keen Solent sailor on holiday in Lanzarote with a group of friends I started to suffer severe withdrawal symptoms, not made any more bearable by a walk around the marina at Puerto Calero. It was the Autumn of 2009 and I knew that by the time I returned to the UK the opportunities for sailing would be diminishing fast. Something had to be done.
Enquires along the marina waterfront directed me towards Atlantic Island Sailing S.L. owned and operated by husband and wife team Paul and Sally Cook . A phone call later and I had agreed a day charter on their beautiful Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45’ Deck Saloon. This proved to be a magnificent yacht that Paul & Sally had purchased from new last year and was by far the largest yacht I had ever sailed.
I was offered the choice of bareboat or skippered and chose the latter so as to get the best out of the day. Paul welcomed us aboard with a warm and friendly smile and following the formalities it was agreed that he would stay in the background and only help if asked. I thought that this was an extremely brave decision but he was as good as his word.
We had a splendid sail down the coast to Papagayo, broad reaching in light airs, where we anchored for lunch. Not only did Paul willingly take on the role of my foredeck crew but he also acted as our steward, serving an excellent lunch all supplied by company. He even launched the dinghy to ferry a couple of sun-worshippers to the beach for a while.
Our sail back was into a freshening breeze but the boat pointed well and we made it back in two tacks. Discretion being the better part of valour, I thought it better to ask Paul to berth this beauty against a strengthening cross-wind and so as we entered the marina I relinquished the skipper’s role for the first time that day and went to the rail to help with the lines.
All in all it was a superb day’s sailing enjoyed by all of us. Sally and Paul proved to be an extremely friendly and helpful couple intent on making our day as enjoyable as possible. If you are in Lanzarote and thinking of chartering a decent sized yacht, whether for a day or for longer, then I have no hesitation in recommending this company. Go on, give it a try.

A big thank you, we both enjoyed our day on the water, excellent boat, great skipper and wonderful food who could ask for more !, bit more wind perhaps !
Marion and Graham Clarke – Winter 2009
Thanks Sally and Paul for a fantastic post-Xmas break on your luxurious yacht. All four of us enjoyed 5 great days of sun and sailing. It was a brilliant family holiday, something a bit different – having a son of 13 and a daughter of 8 is sometimes quite difficult to find something to do that suits everyone but this was perfect. The marina provided plenty of different restaurants for us to eat somewhere different each night including a couple of really nice clothes shops and furniture shops where I spent far too much money!!! Being based at Puerto Calero was perfect as the days we didn’t go out sailing with you we just jumped in a cab or a bus along the coast a short journey to enjoy some lovely beaches. I was quite surprised how warm it was for December, a lot hotter than I expected – couldn’t have asked for more – plenty of sun, plenty of fine sailing, fine dining – a great experience. Can’t wait to do it again….

I had a wonderful time on the trip to the Cape Verdes. The boat and the company were great. My mission was to navigate on the sun and the stars and sailing a qualifying passage for Ocean Yachtmaster. In both I succeeded also due to the well equiped boat.
Jim – Cape Verdes Mile Builder Jan 2010
I just also wanted to say many thanks again to you and Paul for the day trip. We both had a really lovely time – one of the highlights of our holiday.
Jason – Jan 2010
Paul is an excellent skipper: he is tolerant and very patient, willing to let people sail the boat and make the decisions and offering help and advice tactfully. He even managed to avert potential disasters without making us feel any worse than we did anyway. He is great company, and inspires confidence: during the stormy return from Tenerife we thought his decision-making was professional and reassuring.
The boat is comfortable and handles well, and we would like to come back for some more mile-building or odd day trip maybe if we come over to the island for a land holiday.
We thought the organisation of the whole trip, from initial contact to final step ashore, was efficient, welcoming and professional. We hope you continue to thrive, and that we do sail with you again.

Dear Sally and Paul,
Thank you again for everything.
Hope to see you again.
Lucia and Lawrence – Feb 2010
Just a quick note to let you know how delighted we were with our day out last Friday. The whole week had been pretty miserable, so it was wonderful to have a gorgeous day on the water. The snorkelling was good too.
We had never thought of going sailing in the Canaries, but this trip made us think again. Please keep us on your mailing list as I am sure we will want to go back for a longer period of time.
Anne-Laure – Feb 2010
The sailing couldn’t have been better and was a wonderful way to round off the holiday – really do hope we’re able to sail with you again sometime.

Hi Sally & Paul, just wanted to express my gratitude for what was an amazing experience the like of which I’ve never had before but wish to revisit sometime soon. I certainly am no sailor, that much Paul can vouch for but nevertheless it mattered not, I was amongst friends in magnificient surroundings !
Suffice to say, I see no reason why your venture should not succeed, you are smashing people with a relaxed attitude to be admired.
All the very best !

Hi Sally & Paul,
I just wanted to say thanks again for an amazing weekend, which I hope we all get to repeat sometime soon!
Thanks especially to Paul for his patience and kindness to all the “wannabe sailors” among us, I hope it wasn’t too trying having to listen to all the banter, bitchy comments, sad jokes etc…
